About Collen Masangwanyi
I come from an artistic family, Born in 1977 . I am a third generation artist in my family. My Grandfather was a well known Carver while my father Johannes Maswanganyi is an international acclaimed sculptor. My late mother and step mom were very much involved in making of embroidery, clay pots and beadworks I studied fine art at the then Technikon Witwatersrand now the University of Johannesburg. I then decided to practice art full time from the year 2000 until now. I have Participated in a number of Prominent Solo and Group exhibitions locally and internationally. My work forms part of Major prominent Collections internationally I have won several awards like Absa L'atelier Merit award 2010, 2018 Kanna new voice and 2018 Kanna Award for best Exhibition. I have enjoyed massive media coverage since I became an artist.
