As part of the UJ Art Gallery’s public programme, Artist Proof Studio, led by Kim Berman, hosted an inspiring printmaking workshop that invited 40 guests to explore—or rediscover—the expressive art of monotype. Participants were guided to create “paper prayers”, small prints made with intention and reflection.

Kim encouraged everyone to create with mindfulness, asking them to consider who or what they were making for—to infuse each print with meaning for someone or something special. Using an array of inks and natural materials such as feathers, dried flowers, leaves, and string, guests experimented with texture, colour, and emotion.

The session culminated in a heartfelt circle where participants shared their paper prayers and the stories behind them—transforming the workshop into a space of connection, creativity, and collective reflection.
