Phemelo is a multidisciplinary artist, comic book creator, urban poet, break-dancer, and Co-Founder of Rainbow Nation Comics. He holds a Diploma in Public Relations from the University of Johannesburg, which underpins his expertise in communication and creative strategy. Within Rainbow Nation Comics, a proudly African publishing house, Phemelo is responsible for story development, editorial oversight, and identifying new business opportunities to advance the company’s vision.
Omphile is the Co-Founder of Rainbow Nation Comics and a key creative force behind the Young Nelson superhero comic book series. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Marketing Management from the University of Johannesburg. As a performance and visual artist, he brings a multidisciplinary approach to his creative work and is currently expanding his skill set through studies in animation. His combined expertise in marketing, artistry, and storytelling contributes significantly to the growth and identity of Rainbow Nation Comics.
BILL MASUKU
Storyboard Artist/Comic Book Artist and Writer
Bill Masuku is a Nommo Award Nominated African comic book artist and writer born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He is the creator of comic books Razor-Man, Welcome to Dead World, and Captain South Africa. In the urban fantasy genre, he is the author of the Misfortunism series. He has been a guest speaker at events such as MCM London Comic Con, FanCon Cape Town, Comic Con Africa, Afro Comic Con and Harare Literature Festival. He was selected as British Council’s Design Futures Africa Storyteller for Zimbabwe, a project centered around sustainable development, the green future, and the informal economy. Masuku was spotlighted as an up and coming artist during DC Comics’ global event DC Fandome. His comic book artwork has exhibited in Mozambique for Maputo Fast Forward Banda Desinhada Exhibition as well as the National Art Gallery in Zimbabwe in the Green Enterprize ILO Arts and the Future of Work Competition as a finalist.
TREVOR NGWEYNA
Trevor, known to many of his fans as Kubo Art, grew up in Hammanskraal, Gauteng. As a youngster, Trevor found himself enjoying the pulp fantasy of the 80’s which prompted him to pursue his own Afrocentric take on the genre.
His unique quasi-retro African fantasy aesthetic is instantly recognizable, and his artworks have become renowned across the globe.
His most well-known character, Shakar, is a fictional character inspired by Shaka Zulu that exists in a fantastical world based on various pre-colonial African civilizations.
